As reported by People magazine, the lady, now well-known as an actress and activist Jane Fonda, will receive the Most Outstanding Award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony in 2025. We learned that Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda, 87, has been named the 60th SAG Life Achievement Award. This award will be presented to her during the 31st SAG Awards, which are due to be held on the 23rd of February 2025.
According to her, she is “deeply honored and humbled” by the move.“I have been in this industry for up to the greater part of my life today, and one thing I realize is that there is no other honor as sweet as the one given by your fellow human beings,” she said. ”SAG-AFTRA does everything it can to defend the working actor and ensure union members are not exploited. Here I am supporting the union as we fight for we continue to wage war on behalf of future generations of performers alike,” she said.
The SAG Life Achievement Award is presented to actors ‘in recognition of having established distinguished service for enhancing the excellent image of the performing arts,’ per the press statement. The Golden Icon Award was recently awarded to Barbra Streisand during the 2024 SAG Awards in February, Sally Field at the 2023 SAG Awards, and Helen Mirren during the 2022 SAG Awards.
The prize is awarded to the ‘a reputable performer who has made an effort in enhancing the image of acting profession and one who has embraced the culture of involving themself in charitable and public service causes,’ the press release said. SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher mentioned Fonda and described her as a founding member, an outstanding actress, a powerful performer, and an activist par excellence.
In a statement, Drescher said that we honor Jane for her artistic genius and the profound legacy of activism and empowerment she has created. Many in our industry, including myself, have found inspiration in Jane’s fearless honesty. The sports comedies 80 for Brady and Book Club: The Next Chapter from 2023 and Jennifer Lopez’s 2024 film This Is Me Now featured Fonda on the big screen recently, according to People.
