The Apprentice, which is a biopic about former US president Donald Trump, sparked a lot of horror and heated debate as it released its first videos concerning the film. The film was directed by a noble and giving filmmaker, Samuel Thompson, and captures the transformation of Trump, from a real estate tycoon in New York to the 45th President of the USA in a compelling manner.
Even before the launch of the film action, the cut of the action which was released on 02 September became an object of obstructive controversy on social networks about Trump’s private and political life. The documentary explores the development of Trump including his career, his reality show, his political career and ultimately his time in presidency. The Apprentice Osnabrück, i.e. Das Doku-Drama – with Suchan Harper – is a reference to The Apprentice, the US show that was central to Trump’s image long before active political engagement.
That is why actor James Marshall’s strikingly similar look to Trump was noticeable from the beginning and there was already positive feedback on his embodiment of the character. The video shows, Trump as a businessman, Trump as a fucking star, and later, Trump somehow evolved into an effective yet controversial politician. Reviewers of the film have witnessed troubling scenes from the movie such as the 2016 elections, the Russian scandal and the January 6 riots.
Director Thompson is known for his provocative storytelling. He proposes that the film is not a support or opposition to Trump, but just the way he is, larger than life. Thompson gushed, ‘We wanted to explore the character of Donald Trump, the good and the bad, and left it to the audience to decide what they think of him.’ In an interview, Thompson said.
The film is expected to obtain notoriety among Trump advocates and his opponents as early as January 2025. How then it will help to resolve the existing problems: make another split or rather initiate a careful discussion about one of the most ambivalent personalities of the modern era, we will see.
