“Salma Hayek talks about how she was convinced to play Nina in Without Blood by Angelina Jolie.”

Ms. Salma Hayek Pinault has said she was encouraged by Angelina Jolie to take up the dramatic part of Nina in the new war movie Without Blood. Having grown very close with her grandparents, Entertainment Weekly magazine said in an interview that Hayek almost turned down the film because she felt the role was too emotional and painful to handle. It is a post-war film based on a novel by Alessandro Baricco, and this is the movie in which Angelina Jolie conducts herself as a director.

Angela Hayek stated that at a young age, Jolie had just approached her and said she wanted to be cast as Nina, but she didn’t. She said that such an issue would be complicated for her to act and cope with, adding that it was difficult for her then. Hayek further stated, “I did not want to go through the emotional places where Nina has been,” and added that for most parts of the photographing, she was on continual emotional vigor, which she did not envision confronting considering.

Salma Hayek responded to that comment by saying she was okay and in a good position. This lady does not feel like going through a few more weeks torturing herself on the set for this particular film. ‘I have reached this stage in my life after some years, and I did not want to endure pain for weeks and weeks like I have heard other people who endured similar experiences,’ she said.

The actress called Without Blood is complicated for any actor. She noted that when performing as Nina, she had to be on the edge of a nervous breakdown in the movie. For this role, Hayek said, “There’s nowhere to hide in this role.” According to her, the movie requires a constant state of engaged emotion where the camera can capture it even if one disengages for a second.

Still, after days of talking, Jolie was able to persuade Hayek to accept the role that was given to her. During the filming, Jolie revealed that Hayek’s faith in her was shallow, but she told Jolie she was perfect for the role. “She knew I was the right actress, even when I didn’t know it,” Hayek said, expressing her admiration for Jolie as both a director and a colleague.
