Though castings for the DC universe have predominantly been on the CW network, HBO has secured some of the most considerable talents for its new series Lanterns the networks have finalized Emmy award-winning Kyle Chandler to play Hal Jordan. Chandler will do the to-do of the superhero portrayed by Ryan Reynolds in the 2011 film.
Aaron Pierre will join Chandler, who has been cast as Green Lantern protagonist John Stewart. According to the management and producers, Aidan Pierre, famous for Rebel Ridge movies, was selected after a casting exercise. He emerged as a standout.
The ‘Lanterns‘ series will be about two space travelers, Lost, who, along with Gal-September, will solve a dark crime story set here on Earth about a murder in the Midwestern United States. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has greeted Kyle Chandler on Instagram following his acquisition, stating, ‘Welcome to the DCU, Kyle Chandler!’ Now our Hal Jordan in #Lanterns. It will air eight episodes and be penned by Chris Mundy of Ozark fame, who will also act as the showrunner for the series. The series is being developed by Watchmen creator Damon Lindelof and esteemed comic book writer Tom King, who will write and executive produce the series.
James Hawes, who will direct the show’s first two episodes, is a new executive producer on the project. When the Green Lantern series was announced in 2019, it was stated as The Omniverse. The series would span several decades and focus on origin stories. There has been no confirmed date for ‘Lanterns’ yet, but it is listed among the new releases of DC Universe.
