Fans of the movie ‘Batman‘ of 1989, directed by Tim Burton, will be able to return to that universe shortly. The new book ‘Batman: By New York Times best-selling writer John Jackson Miller, ‘Resurrection’ is a sequel to Burton’s film with Bruce Wayne and Gotham City among the old contrivers. Now, for all that he may not have been a master filmmaker – and in some of the preceding scenes, one could even argue that he was quite close to getting it thoroughly wrong – his crew was more than ready to bring another magnificent film into being.
Miller’s novel is a continuation of the movie ‘Batman’ and ends the story right where it should be rightfully. Truly, Michael Keaton was the right man to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in Tim Burton’s movie because it was his first outing on the big screen as the character, and since it was a big production, his Batman was highly memorable. In the new prose novel, ‘Batman: The Emotion ‘Resurrection,’ the Joker is killed in the last issue of this series, but his spirit continues hunting folks in Gotham City.
Batman performs everything possible to safeguard his city and its people, although as soon as Gotham has been rescued, it remains clear that it is unsafe. Batman never got bored; after all, the remains of the Joker’s gang and other rodents continued to wreak havoc and threaten the city again. The actual events of the story show that the people still have to come out from the impacts of Joker’s chemical weapon – Smyles – which has occupied all the hospitals of Gotham.
Batman’s other self, Bruce Wayne, also brawls in this psychological fashion. In the story, Bruce starts experiencing the dream sequences of those around him, including some of his close ones, friends, enemies, lovers, Alfred, Vicki Vale, and his childhood with Thomas and Martha Wayne. An important aspect, the trauma of a meeting with the Joker at the rooftop cathedral in Gotham, has not liberated it. They play it over in his head with a total score of doubts and uncertainty – 10 points for doubts, 10 points for uncertainty. At the same time, the evil in Gotham rises to the next level because the criminals who have copied the unstable Joker can cause more and more destruction in the city.
On the other hand, a wealthy industrialist, Max Shreck, profits from the whole situation for his benefit. In this, the two protagonists have to solve a health crisis after the treatment with Smylex, and Batman needs to have one foot in Bruce Wayne so solutions can be implemented to save the city. Alfred is also disappointed in the monomaniacal quest that Bruce has pitched into to save Gotham, which interferes with his relationships with Vicki Vale, among other persons.
As the story unfolds, Batman faces the most significant test he ever had: if the Joker was also not killed during their final battle. Moreover, these investigations were initiated by Commissioner Gordon and reporter Alexander Knox, which adds an extra layer of complexity and implies that there is yet to be a much worse entity that effectively controls both sides behind the scenes.
Therefore, the world’s best, Detective Bruce, has to figure out whether and how the Joker can get his last laugh in death. The movie, ‘Batman: ‘Resurrection,’ will pick up the brooding noir feel of the Batman series created by Tim Burton and deliver a new thrilling chapter in the story of Dark Knight.
