Perhaps everyone expected him to be writing breakup songs after the recent split from actress Sophie Turner, but much like “Sucker” and “What a Man Gotta Do,” Jonas’ new album is said to be his most personal yet.
The singer, who has been filing for a divorce from Turner since last month in an effort to end their four-year marriage, posted the news on Instagram on Monday. Speaking through a heartfelt post, Joe said, “The songs I’ve written since things began to hit the rocks will be an upbeat reflection of the rollercoaster ride I’d been on in the months gone by.”. “These are the most honest and vulnerable songs I’ve ever written. Music has always been my therapy, and now more than ever, I’m pouring my heart into these lyrics,” he wrote.
Fans had drawn several hypotheses about Joe’s themes in his new songs as his personal life was on display and focused for weeks. With the young children the couple had and the media frenzy with regard to the divorce, listeners are craving this raw emotion built into his songs. Joe, who has not been shy about the pressure of fame and controversy surrounding him, is not an artist who takes life experiences and makes songs out of it.
And while Joe teases that this solo endeavor is going to show the world a more introspective direction, one very separate and apart from his brothers within the Jonas Brothers, it is while The Jonas Brothers are actually out on the “Five Albums. One Night.” tour that he sent along this message: “This is a different journey for me. It’s about growth, heartbreak, and finding myself in a world that often expects perfection,” he wrote further in his Instagram post.
The Joe-Sophie split has been amicable, with the two stars releasing statements assuring their respect for each other and love for the separation. Sophie, best known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, has said next to nothing about the issue since the divorce was announced; Joe had to continue with his professional commitments.
Fans are expecting new music from Joe Jonas, hoping that it will bring more than just a glimpse of his personal struggle but also a message of healing and resilience. The release dates of the songs have not been set; however, Joe promised fans that they will be expecting tracks “very soon.”
