Stanley Tucci may be noted for his performance of Nigel in the popular film ‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ released in 2006. Only here did he reveal that he was struggling for a career after that movie, which signaled his return to fame. Despite ‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ which proved to be a box office hit, Tucci claimed he could not get a single job in Hollywood. In an interview with ‘Vanity Fair, the actor confessed that he used to scratch his head wondering why he didn’t receive new roles and had to accept the parts that interested him less.
Tucci responded that his career was affected by some fortunes and misfortunes, which he said are typical in the industry. He also admitted that at one time or another, he could not work because of personal issues. He has had a significant blemish on his record through the years; choosing to fight oral cancer he was diagnosed with back in 2017, exuding exterior weariness, and going back to the mechanic and fighting oral cancer made him exhausted both physically and financially.
Tucci said it was hard to return to acting from the treatments during the interview. He agreed with the woman that he lacked the strength to engage in his work thoroughly, but he had no option but to proceed. Still, he was slowly climbing his career ladder to bring his life back on track.
On the other hand, Tucci explains how being married to Felicity Blunt, sister to Emily Blunt, who shared a set in The Devil Wears Prada movie, was instrumental in saving his life during that severe illness. As Tucci recalled “It’s true, they say some drinks are poisonous, but if it were not for constant encouragement from the right wife and insistence on getting treated, he probably wouldn’t survive what he did”.
In an interview, he was quizzed on what he thought about ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and the prospects of having a sequel to the same Hollywood picture, and whether or not he would be part of the cast, particularly in a portrayal of Nigel, character, Tucci would not say much about whether he was given the role again. He said he cannot disclose more information about the sequel as the embargo binds him. Tucci’s problems are many, but in total he has remained one of the most identifiable artists in the industry. His work for movies like The Hunger Games enables him to live as a continuing icon, and his personal and professional hardships have enriched his journey.
