Following Bautista and Blane, actress Alicia Silverstone is announced to be joining director Yorgos Lanthimos’s next film, “Bugonia”. This follows after news circulated in entertainment news outlet Variety that Silverstone will be acting in Clueless with Lanthimos’s familiar cast of actors, Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.
The actor had also featured in a cameo in the Greek director’s 2017 absurdist black comedy film “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” Bugonia, ” a rerun of the South Korean sci-fi comedy film ‘Save the Green Planet’.Will Tracy has written the screenplay known for his writing in Succession and the film featuring Ralph Fiennes, The Silverstone, best known for her performance in the 1995 movie “Clueless”, will star alongside Lanthimos’ frequent collaborators Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, reported entertainment news outlet Variety.
The actor had also appeared in a minor role in the Greek director’s 2017 absurdist thriller “The Killing of a Sacred Deer”. “Bugonia” is a remake of the South Korean sci-fi comedy “Save the Green Planet”. Will Tracy, who has worked on the popular show “Succession” and Ralph Fiennes-starrer “The Menu”, has penned the script. It revolves around two paranoid young men who kidnap the mighty chief executive officer of the multinational firm that they presume is an extra-terrestrial out to destroy the world. With CJ ENM, “Parasite” producer, “Bugonia” was created in partnership with filmmaker Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen of Square Peg.
Lanthomis, Aster, and Knudson are the project producers alongside Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe for Element Pictures, Stone for Fruit Tree, Miky Lee and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko of CJ ENM. The movie will be in theatres across the US through Focus Features on November 7, 2025, while Universal Pictures will handle the international markets. The film will be premiered by CJ ENM in South Korea.
