Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes declined to comment on who he will vote for in the upcoming presidential election; Trump recently said Brittany Mahomes, the Super Bowl champ’s wife, is a “big MAGA fan”.
Patriots superstar QB said media to reporters in a news conference on Wednesday: “I believe it’s not my role to tell people who to vote for, but it is my role to tell people to go out there and register to vote, go out there and do your research and make that right decision for yourself and your family.”
Mahomes’ comments came one day after Taylor Swift spoke out on Instagram regarding fake photos of her allegedly supporting Trump; in a lengthy post, she said she would vote for Harris.
During a Wednesday phone interview on ‘Fox and Friends’, when asked if he could pass by without going to her concert, Trump replied, “I am not a Taylor Swift fan”. “If you want to know, I like this Mrs. Mahomes much better [laughter] She is a huge Trump supporter.”
“I like Brittany,” “Brittany’s great,” and “She’s a big MAGA fan,” he continued, uttering the famous tagline “Make America Great Again,” which he associated himself with.
That was not the first time Trump mentioned Brittany Mahomes, who seems to be friends with the singer now that she is dating Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce. Last month, Trump received appreciation from an Instagram model he calls “beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me” after she liked and unsubscribed from Trump’s Instagram post referencing the “2024 GOP platform. During Wednesday’s news conference, Patrick Mahomes was asked if he felt that Trump’s references to his wife could impact him.
“No, I mean, I think at the end of the day, it’s about me and my family and how we treat other people,” the quarterback said. “And you see that Brittany does a lot in the community. I do a lot in the community to help bring people up and give them other opportunities to use their voices.”
