Actress Cameron Diaz, the star of the upcoming ‘Back in Action,’ recently spoke with and reported about her ten-year absence from making movies. Specifically, she explained why she left Hollywood after her last performance as Miss Hannigan in Will Gluck’s directorial remake of Annie in 2014.

She continued: “For me, it was just something I had to do,” towards which she continued, “It was something I had to do to take back my own life. I did not fret about anything else in particular. I didn’t. No one’s words, dreams, job offers, or anything could alter my thinking, regardless of the life I decided to create for myself and take care of my personal growth.

So, it comes to: What makes you enthusiastic? I wanted two things from her: it was to make me live and for me to make my family. Diaz married Benji Madden in 2015; the couple has a daughter and a son. She has penned some health books like The Body Book, published in 2013, and The Longevity Book, published in 2016. 

While at the Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, the actor said she felt that there is a need to take a break from something that “feeds her soul,” saying, “Whatever it is, that’s the thing you know in your soul that speaks to you and where you feel peace, you’re going to find a way.” As for the show, she will feature in a new episode in the series ‘Back in Action,’ which has been available since January 17 on Netflix.

Seth Gordon is the action comedy director who showcases Diaz and Jemie Foxx as characters Emily and Matt. Diaz is also lined up for the sequel’s voice docket as Princess Fiona in ‘Shrek 5,’ which is due for release on July 1, 2026. She is also in talks for the coming black comedy that Jonah Hill is directing ‘Outcome’ with Keanu Reeves and Jonah Hill, of course, as the news suggests.
