Monza – Italy – After fighting tooth and nail throughout the race, Charles Leclerc of Ferrari emerged victorious in an explosive Italian Grand Prix which ignited the fires of celebration in the chorus of Tifosi. In 2024 Formula 1 Monza was significant, as Leclerc, for the first time in his career, managed to win at the Italian track. As the race started, Leclerc did not wait long to assert himself. He began from the third position and began taking over the drivers in front. The race was not easy as there were several lead changes and team strategies had to be deployed which showed the craziness that is Formula 1. But it was not easy for Leclerc as he beat tires off Max Verstappen from Red Bull Racing and Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes every time, who posed an intense competition for him.
The volta which also goes by the name of Italian Grand Prix ‘Temple of Speed’ didn’t disappoint as there was vintage motor racing at its best with no shortage of drama and suspense. More so prepared Leclerc’s Ferrari with the latest modifications became more effective this time in battle for acceleration – on the effective straight spans of the track. the 26 year old driver pedaled around the ancient track for 53 laps with not only a high average speed but also high precision levels.
In the concluding minutes of the race, Leclerc was under enormous pressure from Verstappen who wanted to widen the lead in the championship further. He defended his position well, further proving how steady and composed he is, signs of a top class racing driver. Leclerc won the race and got his third win of the year and more importantly drove Ferrari to its first win in Monza since 2019.
Though this comes as a positive win for the Ferrari team who has endured so many ups and downs this season. This in essence is for Leclerc as it does improve his position in the championship but it makes him even more adored by the fans, especially Italians.
“It’s for the fans,” Leclerc said, overjoyed. “This is amazing, Monza and winning here is a dream in front of the Tifosi.”
With Leclerc’s victory over Monza extending the celebrations of Ferrari fans that started with the waving of Ferrari flags and went on at night through more than a night can only be described the season of the 2024 formula one season as just marvelous.
