Actress Denise Richards recently revealed that she couldn’t get a role in the 1995 released movie ‘Showgirls.’ She said that she was among the actresses who auditioned for the movie but could not get the project reported. She had a cameo at the New York Comic Con panel in September 2021 when she and other co-stars of the 1997 science fiction action film Starship Troopers performed.
She remembered being called to audition for ‘Showgirls’ in 1995, and soon, she got her next role, Carmen Ibanez, in a sci-fi adventure movie. He directed both projects; however, the second project was in league with Irvin Klapper. I auditioned for Showgirls and didn’t get a part,” Richards said. She said, “Which is probably a blessing,” referring to Paul Verhoeven’s much-criticized film that starred Elizabeth Berkley.
That, Richards added, was probably why he had invited him to audition for Starship: ‘It was right before.’ ‘Showgirls’ is a Paul Verhoeven-directed movie made in 1995 with the screenplay written by Joe Eszterhas and starring Elizabeth Berkley in lead roles along with Kyle MacLachlan, Gina Gershon, Glenn Plummer, and Robert Davi besides Alan Rachins and Gina Ravera. When ‘Showgirls’ was released, it became a victim of media backlash, influencing its poor box office performance.
