The outside world only gets to see tons of the entertainment industry, lights, beautifully done makeup, and drama, but beyond all, that can be worse than people’s imagination. Earlier this year, famous hairdresser Emanuel Miller, who has been working in this niche for years, shared the sinister stories of the green room. Some of the women confidants he named were Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lopez, and Blake Lively. He went further and claimed that the A-listers have been very rude to him and treated him like a junior when he was featured in this week’s episode of the What It Was Like podcast.
As reported in Page Six, while speaking of working with Anne Hathaway, Miller clipped, “I did a film with Anne Hathaway, and that has been one of my worst experiences.” She never saw me as a person who deserved any attention or treatment as she used to do before. As I was staying with her for four and a half months, she was treating me like a servant. He also said, “I was doing [Anne’s] hair personally, just one on one, I was just doing her hair. She never said, ‘Your daughter.’ ’You have other children, do you?’ or ‘How long have you been with your spouse?’ Again, we were never having any personal talk.”Emanuel also said that he has worked with other celebrities such as Cate Blanchett, Johnny Depp, and Tom Hanks, among others, who were civil to the stylist.
Then, on the other side, the ‘Devil Wears Prada’ lead actress was seen refuting the allegations. Somewhat ironically, it makes me sad to hear that Manny had such a different perception of our time spent together than I did. Anne Hathaway added: ‘I still hope that he will achieve only the very best.’
Additionally, Emanuel shared an episode in which he tried to talk to Jennifer Lopez, but she was overly unfriendly to him. He remembered that, once, during the live taping of a talk show, JLo came in then “all of a sudden there was the word, ‘Split!’” He continued as follows: “I have been doing many talk shows in the green room with many actors, and I never got that.” So I went back into the room to get my overcoat, which I left hanging over a chair, and when I turned around, there was Jennifer,” the hairstylist added. Miller was, before this show, involved in a shooting with JLo in her 2005 movie titled ‘Monster in Law.’
Nonetheless, Miller claimed that Lopez never responded to him, as if she had never seen him before. Jennifer just looked at me, gave me a blank stare, and then looked at her bodyguards as if she wanted to say you have been instructed to pick up this trash and leave this room. Why isn’t this room cleared?” he recalled.
Finally, he narrated that while shooting for Blake Lively’s ’Hick’ in 2011, he was accorded a chance to have lunch with others on the set. He was glad to receive an invitation, but when he came, he realized that lunch was not being served. This led to an embarrassing moment of silence between Miller and Lively as she looked at him expectantly. Despite the podcast host trying to understand why Lively was like that, maybe she was nervous and didn’t have anyone to talk to or communicate with… But Miller said he didn’t notice her speaking to anyone.
