Jason Momoa, the heartbroken actor who starred in the DC Universe as Arthur Curry, confirmed taking a central role in the much-anticipated Aquaman sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. More adventures from this Atlantean hero were long overdue since the 2018 Aquaman film turned out to be an unprecedented blockbuster success. The first film was a worldwide smash hit as it grossed more than a billion dollars in all-around profit, and it got ranked among the most successful films DC ever had. The sequel looks set to carry on from where the first film left off, as Momoa is reprising his role as the titular character.
Momoa was quoted a few times in regards to his excitement in going back into the underwater world of Atlantis. He believes he has a chance for deeper character development, as well as intense action sequences, and that the storyline expands on the mythos of Atlantis. Momoa has teased that instead of playing crucial roles in the plot, it changes the viewers’ perspectives on the Atlantean world. This is going to add a whole new element to the storyline and give an action-packed flavor to the scenes combined with marvelous visuals.
Aquaman director James Wan is on board to repeat his magic in the sequel. The same visionary approach that brought fans to the film in 2018 will be there again in the sequel, whose release date is expected next year. Wan has promised that the new film will raise the stakes with darker themes, more world-building than ever before, and even more spectacular battles underwater.
