Kate Winslet Recalls Her Son’s Reaction to Seeing Titanic for the First Time

Kate Winslet, the famous actress who became super famous as Rose in James Cameron’s movie Titanic, has spoken about the impact of the movie on her son’s life as well. Recently Winslet explained, this February she started talking about how funny it is to show the sons movie Titanic when they’re watching it for the first time.

As Winslet states, her son, who is ten years old now, has never watched the Titanic until recently. While he finally watched the much-anticipated film, she disclosed that his response was full of nothing else but respect and admiration. “At first, he looked simpler than a child – there was some shyness about him,” she remembered. “He had heard about the movie ‘Titanic’ but the moment he saw me acting at that young age and spewing out so many emotions on the screen, drew him back in amazement anyhow.”

However, Winslet and her son believed that it was about this time in the movie that she really peaked out astonishing her son. “‘He turned, looked at me and said, ‘Mum, you were in that freezing water for so long?’ I had to tell him almost yes, it was very cold, and again, most of it was real, but of course, we were not in the Titanic,’” Winslet laughed. “It is great to watch the film through his sight as it has been telling me what this film is able to deliver to the viewers even after so many years.”

Despite the emotional and tragic ending of the film, Winslet shared that Bear’s biggest concern was less about Jack’s fate and more about the technical side of filmmaking. “He was asking me about the set design, the special effects, and how they made the water look so real,” Winslet said with a smile.

For Winslet, watching Titanic with her son was a reminder of how much the film has become a generational experience. “It’s been such an important part of my life, and now it’s something I get to share with my children,” she reflected.
