The untimely death of Matthew Perry has put the entire entertainment industry into grief. However, for his dear friend Matt LeBlanc, who is also one of the stars of Friends, the void is more unbearable. As Oxygen has learnt from close friends of the actor, LeBlanc became a recluse due to the sorrow over the early death of Perry.
A source disclosed that LeBlanc, most well-known for playing the character of Joey Tribbiani in the sitcom Friends after shocking news has been reported, is finding it quite hard. “Matt is taking this really hard. He’s become somewhat of a recluse these days. He took the news of the passing of Matthew harder than most people anticipated,” said the source. “They were not mere screen siblings, Matt does not know what to do with how it feels to lose a real brother.”
Matthew Perry, known as Chandler Bing in Friends, died in an unforeseen event at the end of October 2023 which has evoked sadness from admirers and work associates. Perry formed a very close bond with the team of Friends, which included LeBlanc, and other actors who remained as real friends long after the show ended in 2004. The two enjoyed a special relationship during the show and expressed deep respect for each other in the press.
It has been revealed that unlike any of the other Friends cast, which includes Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, and even David Schwimmer, LeBlanc’s emotions have not been on display – he has been quite mute. “Matt has always been a very private person, but this particular event has made him more reclusive than ever. He is not ready to step out yet,” said the source.
LeBlanc’s representatives, where all throughout his management team certain aspects were focused on privacy, have not accounted for in the current situation of LeBlanc. Perry’s death is in itself a stark reminder even to the fans, the closeness of these friendships forged during the Friends days, which lives on in many people around the world.
