Fans of the hit Amazon Prime series Mr. & Mrs. Smith are eagerly awaiting Season 2, and no one wants to know more than if the deadly married assassin duo will continue being portrayed by stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine. With their first season going so well, people would naturally want to know what’s coming next in this action-comedy reboot of the classic duo to know if Glover and Erskine will bring the special chemistry they created along.
This is, of course, a new take on the 2005 Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which Glover himself came up with. The whole production and, as leads, Erskine brought their individual flavorful personality to the characters, packaging humor and intensity that has mesmerized viewers. This chemistry on screen with well-balanced tension of high-stake action and playful banter quickly made fans of the pair.
News is pretty scant, but apparently the program’s been picked up for a second season. Glover’s commitment to the show as both actor and writer could signal an intent to keep it around longer, but his schedule will likely be something that would factor into his commitment to the second season. Glover is already known to work extensively in music, film, and television, and his schedule tends to keep him full, whether that’s on his music under the moniker Childish Gambino or the critically acclaimed Atlanta series. Still, of course, having a creative stake in Mr. & Mrs. Smith leaves room for fans to hope he might stick around.
However, the only scene and star that has so far proven versatile and charismatic enough to make the action sequences involving comedy work is Erskine from PEN15. Being one of the most charming female fans in that show, she would be thrilled to return for more adventures. Erskine has shown so much excitement about the role that there is great hope she would return for another season.
But whether or not the dynamic duo comes back will also depend on the storyline. Season 1 set plenty of layers on the characters, leaving many things to be unfolded. With many loose ends and the high-octane chemistry between Glover and Erskine, there’s very much to be explored. Fans can all get another dose of thrills, laughter, and this refreshing take on the romance with Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
While waiting to get confirmation, this much can be sure: Mr. & Mrs. Smith has really rung a chord in the viewers, and a season 2 could be visualized with Glover and Erskine back into action in full force.
