Star Patrick J.Adams says Meghan Markle contacted him about his podcast, ‘Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast,’ which he and their former co-star, Sarah Rafferty, are co hosting. Adams and Markle are two of the leads of the drama Suits; Adams stars as Mike Ross and Markle as Rachel Zane.
One of the leading actors was with the show since its inception and the other since the pilot, and both of them left after the seventh season finished in 2018, though Adams did reappear as a guest in the last year of the series. Adams discussed how he met fans during a Q&A on the Reddit website when he was asked about how his interaction with Markle had changed since she left the show Suits to become engaged to Prince Harry.
Personally, one of the fans asked, What if I don’t find it weird that his ex-co-star is now a royalty? Are you still in touch with you guys? Adams describes them as ‘not really in touch’ because ’her life has changed a lot due to her royal role and other activities.’
However, they were not very talkative to each other, and according to Adams, Markle contacted him when she got word of his rewatch podcast with Rafferty. He has a screenshot of a text from her about how excited she was for the project and if there was anything she could do. Adams pondered it as lovely and said they still have some form of friendly support that has endured over the years.
In the latest episode of the podcast, Adams also recalled knowing Markle before meeting him on the set of ‘Suits.’ He remembered doing a pilot with Markle for a show that was never actually made. And never crossed paths again until both were called in for chemistry reads on ‘Suits.’ Said Adams in his chest; he already knew that it was Markle when they made up for those readings.
He was so certain about it that he was friendly towards her. He particularly remembers that at that point, he knew she was one of the strongest contenders for Rachel Zane because, through the auditions, they clicked. Another of the messages that Adams gave was a closing one, during which he thanked Markle for being as close to him as possible, although they did not remain in the ‘Suits’ world but took different paths. He said this is why it is warm-hearted to walk behind the former co-star after leading such an opposite life.
