In the case of malpractices, theft and interference with her movie ‘The Deb,’ the producers are accused by actress Rebel Wilson of meddling with the premiere of her film, reportedly to ensure that the latter does not play at this year’s TIFF.
This was made worse when Wilson went on to the media and claimed that actress Charlotte MacInnes had manipulated her recorded statements about all the producers regarding various accusations in exchange for a new job.
After that, the producers, Amanda Ghost, Cameron Gregor and Vince Holden, sued Wilson for defamation. She described this as utterly false while counter suing in another court. In her filing of the legal response, she accused the producers of grave misconduct, sexual harassment and financial malpractice.
She said that one of the producers, Amanda Ghost, made Charlotte MacInnes sleep in a Bondi Beach penthouse for sexual harassment. In support of Wilson’s suit, the suit accused Ghost of improper conduct, which involved taking a shower and bathing with machines.
Wilson’s attorneys also refuted producers’ claims of over-budgeting for the movie and then siphoning the overages secretly. Her lawyer summed up the producers’ defense against Wilson well when the latter took a lawsuit against them to divert attention from them. Notably, this statement only hints at far worse allegations yet to be made.
Over half a dozen have now testified, asserting their experience of similar harsh treatment at the hands of Amanda Ghost. As the lawyers representing Wilson claimed, this retaliatory lawsuit is a mere first step towards a much larger lawsuit since more evidence of the alleged untoward conduct of the producers will emerge when the trial is held.
