The short post went viral on Instagram.
Rihanna used the popular “POV” trend format in the reel as funny yet impactful. She gave a glimpse into what it would feel like had the encounter happened with her supporting a political figure like Kamala Harris. The video showcased Rihanna rocking a bold red suit with a matching fedora as she exuded her confidence through the screen as usual. The caption read, on the reel: “POV: Watching me endorse Madam Vice President Kamala Harris.” It didn’t take long before it was filled with comments where people go ahead to praise her for being bold in her political stance and others on their rubbish aspects.
As expected, Rihanna’s endorsement did not sit well with everybody, and some online trolls quickly retaliated with criticisms. Many went on to say entertainers and celebrities must stay out of politics, while others undermined her views. But Rihanna was not going to let them take a jab at her without retaliating. Composed yet searing, she shot back at the critics by reminding them that she is, like everybody else, a citizen, and thus entitled to her opinion regarding politics. She even quoted, “When you have a platform, use it wisely. I’m proud to support leaders who inspire change.”
Rihanna’s reaction featured well with her fans, many of whom applauded her for standing her ground using her voice for positive leadership. Her reel has emerged as a rallying point with supporters committing comments in support of Rihanna and Kamala Harris. Since then, the video has been viewed by millions and thousands of others, of which some lavished praise on her for being an inspiration in particular and for reminding them all why they should remain informed and tuned into the politicians.

For years now, Rihanna has been an outspoken advocate on issues of racial equality and, most recently, women’s rights.
