Saoirse Ronan recalls that Ryan Gosling was replaced from ‘The Lovely Bones’ following a sixty-pound weight gain: ‘The reasons they parted were valid.’

Saoirse Ronan recently revealed a shocking switch during the shooting of director Peter Jackson’s ‘The Lovely Bones.’ At one point, the director wanted Ryan Gosling to portray the father of Ronan’s protagonist, but Mark Wahlberg replaced the Barbie actor.

The change in the casting was made just days before shooting because the director did not endorse the actor’s choice to put on 60 pounds for the part. The show’s latest episode, ‘ Happy Sad Confused,’ saw Saoirse Ronan weigh in on the pairing, even if she had grown close to Gosling. While filming, we never got the official green light with Gosling.

The cast had started getting ready, and Ronan said that ‘she just loved Ryan,’ who came along with his dog, George! Ronan went further and said that the causes for their separation were ‘legitimate.’ She also admitted that she has had a previous conversation with both [Gosling and Jackson], and it’s not personal.

Jackson fired Gosling during their production, and Mark Wahlberg was recorded as having replaced him. Ronan said that Mark could immediately become that character for this scene, and it would not matter as he is a father. “He probably had an experience that Ryan felt he did not have. Ryan was like 27. He was young,” she recalled.

At the same time, Ryan Gosling was asked by THR about the removal from ‘The Lovely Bones’: ‘I just had a different concept of the image of the character.” He said: “I believed he should be 210 pounds”.
