Tahliah Debrett Barnett, a performance artist, has accused her ex-boyfriend, actor Shia LaBeouf, of using legal strategies in their already high-profile sexual battery case as the trial nears. The lawsuit was filed on October 18–the document leaked to People on October 21–by FKA Twigs attorneys, who argued LaBeouf had failed to make the disclosure necessary for their pursuit to go forward. They moved for the production of missing documents and objected to a last-minute motion to be deposed first, even though prior orders made by the same court required both parties to be deposed in the same week.
LaBeouf’s response to the written discovery could have been more responsive and responsive. Hence, the document production is nine pages long; the document read – “It appears that LaBeouf has something to hide, as he has reportedly lost or misplaced his electronic devices or destroyed other relevant information before the commencement of this action.” And yet her attorneys argued that on their side, they provided the court with a large volume of discoverable and numerous written responses.
In December 2020, the Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit, based on Wilder’s testimony, stated that LaBeouf subjected her to ‘relentless’ sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. She has also accused him of knowing that he has given her the STD. “What I suffered through with Shia was the worst thing that I have ever gone through in the entirety of my life, explaining to The New York Times.”
LaBeouf confessed he was aware of his abusive temper and identified it as alcoholism and aggressive disposition. He apologized for it and excused himself of the suffering he caused to other people. In all the cases and all responses to the cases, LaBeouf has denied being assaulted and has even requested that FKA pay his court costs. Both are expected to have a crucial status conference on October 25, when the trial schedule for the case will be determined. It could be the ultimate deciding factor whether their company’s legal matters and social upheaval are to be for or against.
