Sira and Jones will act in ‘The Running Man,’ a screen adaptation of the novel Stephen King wrote in 1982, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Both have wrapped up negotiations to join Glen Powell, and Edgar Wright will direct the film for Paramount. This project also brings back Wright to direct Cera, whom he had previously worked with for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World ‘The Running Man’ is a science fiction setting where a totalitarian government completely dominates and subjugates America.
Currently, the government puts the masses’ attention on violent game shows in an attempt to mask the situation. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie’s plot concerns Ben Richards, portrayed by Marlon Powell, a desperate man who agrees to participate in the most dangerous show, The Running Man.
In this game show, gentlemen who are hunters are hunting human beings, and whoever is alive at the end of the hunt receives money. Richards, on the other hand, intended to unveil the real behind the game. Jones is cast as a spoiled lady who knows nothing about the oppression of the government, and Cera plays a foolish lady who wants to assist Richards.
The brutal game show producer will be played by Josh Brolin, the contestant – by Katy O’Briyan, and the brutal chief hunter – by Lee Pace. It will start shooting in London in January of next year, and Paramount has slated the movie for a November 21 release next year. Michael Cera, the actor popularised for the character in ‘Scott Pilgrim Takes Off’ and recently appearing in Barbie, is set to collaborate with Edgar Wright after years. Emilia Jones, more famous for CODA, has carried on acting with parts in independent films such as Cat Person and Winner. Nira Park and Wright will produce the movie.
