Such sad news has come out of the Atlanta hip-hop community, that talented Rich Homie Quan has passed on. Best known for his tracks, ‘Type of Way’ and ‘Flex (Ooh Ooh Ooh),’ the rapper died at the age of 33. Reports say that Rich Homie Quan, whose real name is Dequantes Lamar, was discovered unresponsive at his residence in Atlanta by his girlfriend in the early hours of Monday. The police confirmed the sorrowful propaganda but they didn’t reveal the cause of the death as of now.
Having started in 2011, Rich Homie Quan was a perfect embodiment of a melodic type of a rapper who often sang rather than rapped. His club banger ‘Type of Way’ afforded him the much publicity that he needed to take over in the hip hop world in 2013. This was followed up by further new tracks, even more hits including ‘Flex’ that he dropped in 2015 which made it to the Billboard Hot 100 and further pushed his career as a hitmaker.
The ripples of the unfortunate news on the demise of Quan have left many of his fans and the music economy in shock and confusion. Fans and other artists have taken the opportunity to pay their last respects and mourn through social media. Most of them emphasized how east to modern hip hop generally and how the rapping that he kicked off has come to dominate the music style.
Rich Homie Quan hails from Atlanta, Georgia, Where he had quite a hard life earlier on, battling through the court system and even doing some time in jail. Nonetheless, he was able to overcome all these setbacks and became one of the most successful rap artists. Apart from that, he was also noted for his association with Atlanta based rapper Young Thug with whom he was part of Rich Gang.
Khon is survived by his three children and a girlfriend who found him unable to answer any of the questions that were posed to him. He goes on to state however that further information concerning the details of the memorial services and the reason for his death are yet to be revealed. Losing fresh and hot new artistry today is sad for the hip-hop scene.
